VOLUME (Moika) is a composition for sound and architecture. A collaboration with Bernhard Garnicnig, the piece uses the frame of a soon-to-be-demolished building at the City Museum of Moscow. Physical holes are drilled into the building, creating sound channels through its walls. These allow focused audible access to a sound-world created inside. Each channel is a fissure helping to decompose the building, as well as a listening point for the acoustic composition — all serving as requiem for the doomed soviet architecture of Moscow, and the Moika building in particular.
